Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Early Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her role as Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh is a collaborator on projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers throughout the course of her career. Ashford's upcoming project is a limited-edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford's current project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. It's also available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. This show is based around the National Crisis which put Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the country's First Impeachment Proceedings over 100 Years. The two-season run she had on the CBS show B Positive was her first significant part. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Also, she has appeared in Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde in addition to the original role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she received a nomination for the Tony Award. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits her life between Los Angeles, and New York.
